My schedule is just getting back to normal after attending the 30th WPPI Annual Convention and Trade Show at the MGM in Las Vegas. I must say the convention was a huge hit. I think this is due to WPPI's commitment to excellence. There were more than 16,000 photographers from around the world in attendance. Just to lay out a typical day, there were lectures on a variety of topics, starting at 08:00 to 10:00 hours. After school fair was open until 17:00 with too many products on the list. Classes begin again around 15:00 to 21:00. There were more than 70 platform programs cover a range of topics and 55 master classes in order to improve each subject in professional photography today in an intimate setting and cooperation. It is an honor to belong to such a wonderful organization dedicated to improving the quality of the field of photography.
There is a lot of gifts and donations. I personally witnessed a man win the car, his excitement is contagious. Most sellers discounting the product and some were offering free shipping. My top five vendors will need to include in BiH, because they have the most knowledge and people are more than order takers. I liked the Southeast cameras due to their high price points, and I bought my camera bag from them. I liked the Canon, of course, and also Delkin Devices Inc., which has offered great prices on SD cards. Finally, I liked Gary Fong's stand because it is demonstrating its products, which I like the owners.

...My favorite class had to be Doug Gordon - what a true professional. He put an encore performance due to popular demand. He is an expert in the flow of posing and clearly someone who loves his job. Doug is a great teacher and mentor with an arsenal of training materials to teach the process he uses.
One of the highlights for me was a print competition (16x20). There are hundreds of award-winning photographs in view and get ideas of styles and techniques for photographers from around the world. I learned some new ideas of lighting using natural light and ETTL flash. I met a photographer from England and asked him what the biggest difference between the United States and England was. He said there is no way you could shoot the bride and groom in a wedding dress before the wedding. However, there are many brides that will allow their picture taken with a dress for an extra shot.
All elements of the Convention are the tools that informed us and keep us on the cutting edge technology in our field. This translates into better products and services for consumers of fine art to wedding photography. I personally made sure that a lot of notes to convert them to my craft.
Thanks Dave
